Job Description
How will you contribute to the fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The Data Management Officer - Clinical Service Improvement and Science (DMO-CSIS) reports to the Director of Public Health Evaluation and receives technical guidance from Senior Technical Officers.

The role holder will support the evaluation and clinical support team with data management activities, including collection (developing electronic data capture tools and databases), processing (entry, cleaning, management), and analysis of evaluation data within EGPAF's Cameroon program. He/She will oversee the project's databases, perform data checks, and ensure data quality by generating error listings and sending data queries for correction. He/She will report to the concept note lead and work closely with the Technical Officer-CSIS, the SI&E team, the regulatory officer, and evaluation data clerks.

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Health Evaluation, the DMO-CSIS will help build capacity by supervising, training, and mentoring clinical staff at the facility level and junior evaluation staff. He/She will also communicate regularly with local and US-based investigators regarding progress on data analyses for their concept notes and research studies, as applicable.

No two days are the same at EGPAF. Here is what you can expect in this role.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Develop data collection tools and databases for specific evaluation projects.
• Extract datasets from the central database for specific evaluations.
• Assess data quality in the study database and generate lists of errors or inconsistencies.
• Produce and send data queries to SI&E teams on sites, and supervise data correction processes.
• Ensure that for all evaluation projects, high-level statistical activities comply with relevant national regulatory requirements and EGPAF standards.
• Communicate and collaborate with other evaluation team members to ensure consistent statistical approaches across concept notes and alignment with evaluation methods.
• Provide support, as needed, for data management of other research project protocols conducted by the foundation.
• Perform statistical analyses for planned data presentations and study-related communications (progress reports, newsletters).
• Establish and maintain regular communication and collaboration with local and international researchers, the Cameroon Ministry of Health, and sponsoring institutions to provide timely updates to all relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in capacity building by mentoring and teaching junior staff on key aspects of data quality in evaluations, including developing staff skills in data collection and data quality checks.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the Director of Public Health Evaluations.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or any other relevant field.
• Demonstrate solid knowledge in public health or a related area.
• Knowledge and understanding of human subjects research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
• Experience in clinical or operational research as a data manager or data officer will be highly appreciated.
• Experience managing electronic data collection software will be highly valued.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis software (Stata, SPSS, SAS, R). Excellent mastery of at least one is mandatory.
• Experience in monitoring clinical and operational research data will be highly valued.
