Job purpose:
To steer, cultivate and optimize Agribusiness and SME/Corporate value chain activities within the Consumer & Commercial Banking (CCB) division at affiliate level. The role is accountable for disseminating and implementing the Group Agribusiness and Value Chain strategies, fostering profitable expansion of agricultural, SME and value-chain-based portfolios, and establishing CCB as a trusted financial partner across priority ecosystems. The role integrates value-chain-led client acquisition, transactional banking and financing solutions, while safeguarding portfolio quality, profitability, regulatory compliance and effective risk management across sectors, with a pronounced focus on agribusiness and other priority value chains.
The role is also designed to drive substantial corporate deposits through value chain and to position ECM as the premier Agri-banking institution in the market.
Key responsibilities:
Business and Financial Performance:
• Formulate and execute the Agribusiness and SME Value Chain strategy aligned with CCB growth, profitability and financial inclusion objectives;
• Identify priority agricultural and non-agricultural value chains and ecosystems to drive client acquisition, deposits, financing and fee-based revenues;
• Expand agribusiness, SME and value-chain-based loan portfolios while upholding acceptable risk and return thresholds;
• Enhance financing penetration and revenue per client through integrated value-chain and transactional banking approaches;
• Design and implement financing models anchored on cash flows, transactional data and value chain relationships (campaign financing, seasonality, inventory, trade and export finance);
• Drive sector-specific propositions adapted to local market dynamics (agribusiness, trade, construction, manufacturing, services);
• Collaborate closely with Credit, Risk, Operations, Digital and Product teams to improve time-to-yes and time-to-cash;
• Execute strategic conventions with Anchors to finance distributors, suppliers, and employees.
Customer Excellence:
• Design end-to-end customer journey models from acquisition to financing, portfolio deepening and retention;
• Build and maintain robust, long-term relationships with Agribusiness, SME and Corporate clients, cooperatives, associations and anchor players;
• Support client acquisition and onboarding across entire value chains;
• Ensure banking solutions address real business needs, operational cycles and sector constraints;
• Monitor customer experience, onboarding efficiency, facility utilization and portfolio activation;
• Drive continuous improvement based on client feedback, data analytics and market insights.
Leadership and People Management:
• Lead, mentor and develop teams responsible for Agribusiness and Value Chain execution at affiliate level;
• Coordinate closely with branches, SME and Corporate segment heads to expand market coverage and execution capability;
• Foster strong collaboration between Commercial, Risk, Credit, Operations and Product teams;
• Build internal capabilities in value chain financing, agrifinance and SME portfolio analytics;
• Promote a performance-driven, collaborative and compliant culture.
Process, Control and Operational Performance:
• Ensure robust governance of Agribusiness and Value Chain acquisition and financing processes;
• Strengthen credit quality through improved structuring, monitoring and early warning mechanisms;
• Track portfolio performance, sector concentration, cost of risk and non-performing loans;
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, Group standards and ESG frameworks;
• Support automation and digitalization of onboarding, credit assessment and portfolio management processes.
Strategic Initiatives:
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with corporates, anchor clients, public institutions, DFIs, cooperatives and structured SME ecosystems;
• Leverage risk-sharing instruments such as guarantees, insurance and blended finance mechanisms;
• Prepare and present Agribusiness and Value Chain performance dashboards and reports to CCB leadership;
• Contribute to MSME development, food security, sustainability and financial inclusion initiatives;
• Anticipate regulatory, market and sector developments impacting Agribusiness and SME financing.
Reporting:
The position will report locally to the Head, Consumer & Commercial Banking (CCB) Cameroon & CEMAC Cluster.
Job profile:
Experience and Qualifications:
• At least a bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Agribusiness, Economics or any other related field;
• Master's degree or professional/specialized qualification (Agrifinance, SME Finance, Structured Finance) is an advantage;
• Minimum 8–10 years' experience in a FMCG or Agriproducts Distribution Role with a strong portfolio managed;
• Strong achievements in Agribusiness & Value Chain with proven track record;
• Proven experience in agricultural and/or SME value chain financing;
• Strong understanding of sector risks, SME dynamics and the CEMAC regulatory environment.
